An unusual SE to NW flowing storm left about an inch of rain on the ranch over a two day period (August 13th and 14th). The rain was torrential at times and our tent home stayed dry and warm, but it was a reminder that we’ll want a stove in the tent in another month or so.
The native gray rabbit bush (Ericameria nauseosa) almost glowed in the moist crisp air between storms. We have two varieties of rabbit bush on the ranch, one gray and one greener. This fall we’ll collect the seeds of these natives and disperse them around the land.
