Having just returned from France six months earlier and we saw this sign while scouting around the area for land. We hiked up the small hill and were sold. We had been looking for suitable land for well over 10 years! A very long search had finally ended. We had almost bought a larger but much inferior acreage in 2006 ( pre 2008 crash ) for a too high price. At the time all of the land prices just felt inflated and so we decided to pass and wait. 2008 came and went and land prices went through a major readjustment which opened the door to begin looking more seriously. However we didn’t want a place in a development ( though we did consider Black Butte Ranch ) and we didn’t want a view looking over developments, and we wanted to be west of Hwy 20, and we wanted to be close to Bend and Sisters. With so much awesome public land in the area that leaves very very few possibilities and so a long search ensued.
